CDC Armour / Detail Cars

 CDC Armour produced the well known Detail Cars range of 1/43 scale diecast model cars as well as 1/144 and 1/48 scale diecast model aircraft. The company also made a range of 1/76 scale tanks. 
In the early 1990's CDC reached an agreement for Corgi to market the Detail Cars range in the UK but this met with limited success so the range was discontinued and the moulds have been sold on to other companies, some of them enjoying a new lease of life in the Solido range.  
Around 10 years ago the company hit some financial difficulties and was sold off to Franklin Mint who produced the 1/48 scale aircraft range using the Armour brand name. The range is huge covering mainly military aircraft and the models have proved popular with aviation collectors all over the world.   

Latest reports at the start of 2010 indicate that Franklin Mint will no longer be producing Armour aircraft as a stock range to sell to the model trade. Their statement implies that any future releases will be limited editions which are likely to be available solely by direct mail from Franklin Mint.
