PJ Models

PJ Models was founded by Peter Hancock who first became involved in the model trade when he took over his father's Epping based shop Ace Models in the late 70's. Peter started building 1/43 scale metal and resin kits for Lambert Ley Street Models Ltd of Ilford, Essex, who, at that time, were one of the worlds leading scale model car specialists.
Following the sale and subsequent closure of Lamberts in the early 90's Peter formed Trinity Models together with dutchman Rob Ybema. Rob had been building one off models / sculptures of race cars using card and plasticine and Trinity used Rob's master models to produce short run resin sculptures / models in 1/24 scale mainly as promotional gifts for F1 and F3 teams although a few were sold both built and in kit form to the public.
Trinity closed down after about 3 years around the same time as there was a resurgence in interest in the British Touring Car Championship.
None of the diecast model manufacturers were producing models of cars competing in the British Touring Car Championships at that time so Peter launched PJ Models producing 1/24 scale promotional models from masters made by Martin Field of Guild Models, the resin castings being produced by Steve Overy at Illustra Models. The models, which were made exclusively for the Touring Car teams had blacked out windows and no interior detail and were never sold to the public making them rare and desirable collectors items.

PJ Models was a real cottage industry with much of the assembly work being done in Peter's home. The business closed around 1994/5.
