Somerville Models

 Launched in the 1970's Somerville Models was one of the pioneers of 1/43 scale whitemetal kits and handbuilt models produced for the collectors market.

 The founder Doug McHard had worked in the prototype department at Dinky Toys and was a highly skilled modelmaker renowned all over the world for his superb quality handmade static and flying aircraft models as well as model cars. Being an enthusiastic modeller Doug set high standards and Somerville gained a well deserved reputation for producing accurate beautifully finished models.

Unfortunately Doug McHard was taken ill and died at a model flying event a few years ago. Somerville was taken over by a new owner but the superb quality of the original models made by Doug McHard means that they are still much sought after by collectors today.
