Williams Bros
Founded in 1951 by William and Larry Grainger to make accessories for flying scale modellers Williams Bros expanded to produce HO scale model railway accessories and plastic aircraft kits.
The aircraft kits were always of unusual subjects including the Curtiss C-46, Pitcairn Autogiro, Boeing 247D and several 1930's air racers like the Gee Bee and Weddell Williams. The Grainger Bros were unhappy with commercially available moulding machines and designed and built their own machine to make the limited run kits. Like all limited run kits aimed at the enthusiast market they needed a little work to put them together properly but with a little care and patience the kits produced superb models of aircraft which will never be kitted by the major kit manufacturers.
In 2004 the Grainger Bros sold the business to Brett Industries who are slowly upgrading and reissuing most of the original range although some of the kits may not be available for some yet due to licensing problems and the work needed to upgrade the moulds.
