1/43 scale diecast model by Solido of a 1939 Bugatti T57S Atalante.
The new Bugatti 57SC Atlantic caused quite a stir in the early 1930's with a double overhead camshaft 3.3 litre 8 cylinder engine. In 1936 Bugatti introduced the Type 57S Atalante using the same engine with a higher compression ratio to improve performance. The ride height was also lowered, to improve the handling, by drilling the main chassis members to allow the rear axle to pass through rather than under the the main beams. Most cars were delivered with bodies by Gangloff as modelled by Solido although some customers did order bare chassis and commissioned their own custom bodies.
The Solido Age D'Or (Golden Age) range was first launched in the 1970's producing accurate well finished models.
This one is an mid 1980's release in good condition with no paint chips. The clear plastic case has yellowed with age (a common problem with Solido cases). The screw to retain the model in the case is missing but it will be packed carefully to prevent any damage during shipping.
