1/18 Scale approx 8.75 ins / 22.5 cms.

Superb quality 1/18 scale diecast model by CMC of the Mercedes W25 Grand Prix car with lift off bonnet with working latches and a highly detailed engine.
Please see the pictures which clearly show the quality and level of detail in this model.

In March 1933 Mercedes Benz decided to return to Grand Prix racing and work started on an all new car to meet the new regulations which limited maximum weight to 750 kgs. The car had a new supercharged straight 8 engine initially producing 354 hp and debuted at the Avusrennen in Berlin where fuel supply problems in practice led to the team withdrawing from the race. By the following weekend the problems had been resolved and Manfred Von Brauchitsch drove the car to its first victory at the Nurburgring. The car won a total of 4 major races in the first season and after more development work Rudolf Caracciola won the 1935 European Championship piloting the W25 to victory in 3 of the 5 championship races.

Later versions of the car had the engine enlarged to 4 litres developing over 400hp but the increased power was too much for the chassis and caused handling problems. The last versions of the engine were enlarged to 4.7 litres and produced 490hp but the engine was overstressed and became unreliable and this together with the handling problems meant that Mercedes decided to move on and the first of the "Silver Arrows" was retired and replaced by the W125.

Please note that this model is pre owned. The photographs show the actual model that you will receive which appears to be very near mint with no visible defects in a near mint box complete with the original booklet and the numbered tag which is still tied to the axle. The importers rec retail price for a new model is £166.00.
